Introducing the Viking Star: Where Every Cruise Passenger Gets a View on board

The introduction of the Viking Star coincides with the launch of Viking Ocean Cruises, a company from Viking River Cruises intended to branch into the wider world of sea travel. The Viking Star was christened in May in Bergen, Norway, and will focus on Mediterranean itineraries in 2015 and 2016, with voyages from $2,600 per person based on double occupancy.

The Viking Star is being celebrated not only because she is the first of a run of new oceangoing ships from Viking, but also for a keen attention to detail onboard, including many industry “firsts.” For example, the Viking Staris an all-balcony ship, where all cabins come standard with a veranda. That means 465 cabins and 465 balconies.

Two New Ways to Experience the World’s Best Small Ship Cruise: Windstar Unveils Plans to Introduce Star Breeze and Star Legend

All suite yachts to undergo a $17 million stem-to-stern transformation

Seattle, January 18, 2015 – Windstar Cruises, recently named as World’s Best Small Ship Cruise Line by Condé Nast Traveler, expands their fleet from four ships to six in May 2015 with the addition of two small luxury ships from Seabourn. Today, Windstar unveils the changes planned to transform these yachts to Windstar’s signature style.

Windstar takes possession of the first Seabourn ship on April 15, 2015, when it undergoes an $8.5 million, three-week renovation in Genoa, Italy. It will debut as Star Breeze during a christening ceremony on May 6, 2015 in Nice, France. The second ship follows suit, joining the fleet on May 4, 2015, and completing a similar $8.5 million renovation. The yacht will be christened Star Legend on May 25, 2015 in Rome, Italy.

Playa del Carmen, Mexico, January 21, 2014 – For the fourth consecutive year since opening in 2008, Grand Velas Riviera Maya was awarded American Automobile Association’s (AAA) Five Diamond Award for lodging, an award for excellence in quality and service. According to the AAA website, each year AAA reviews more than 30,000 lodgings, while less than one-third of one percent make the AAA Five Diamond list.

Marking its fifth anniversary in the presence of special invited guests and the media, Grand Velas Riviera Maya also celebrated receiving the prestigious AAA Five Diamond Award for restaurants for Cocina de Autor, the only restaurant of an all-inclusive to receive the award in 100 years of AAA.
