Picture this: You’re sitting in a comfortable art-filled tasting room sipping a delicate cuvée while taking in the panorama of the rolling hills and vines beyond. No, this isn’t Champagne in France—it’s Franciacorta in Italy. It may not be as famous, but that’s precisely what makes it so intriguing. Though one of the country’s best-kept secrets, it should be on every wine lover’s bucket list. Likewise, some of the world’s best wine regions are blissfully under the radar, many just a few hours away from their more famous cousins. Some, like Oregon’s Willamette Valley and Long Island’s North Fork, have developed immensely in the past few decades thanks to pioneering winemakers. Others, like Sicily, have been producing wine for centuries but remain off the beaten path. For oenophiles looking for an adventure, these seven under-the-radar wine regions are great places to start.

The city, which is divided into 8 districts, is planned for mixed-use with commercial, residential, entertainment and leisure activities to make the city a 24/7 lively environment
Distributed by APO on behalf of Eko Atlantic|
LAGOS, Nigeria, July 20, 2016 (APO) – Eko Atlantic City (EkoAtlantic.com), a unique, innovative development, in a vibrant environment with 21st Century facilities on the coast of Lagos has reached advanced stages in the first 5 million square metres of the project. The city not only boasts of independent power and water supply, seamless communications network but also an extensive citywide road network. This will be the first of its kind in Lagos and Nigeria.
The city, which is divided into 8 districts, is planned for mixed-use with commercial, residential, entertainment and leisure activities to make the city a 24/7 lively environment. City amenities and services will include an international school, hospital, and a high-quality shopping mall, the largest in sub-Saharan Africa.
The city’s road design and construction have been built according to world’s best practices with beautifully paved sidewalks, tree-lined and streetlights completed with a stunning ocean view. One of the considerations when developing the Eko Atlantic city was to guarantee free flowing traffic. This has now been achieved with the major road network recently completed. The extensive road networks now clearly defined with an area in excess of 200,000 square metres. Most significantly Eko Boulevard, an 8 lane Boulevard, 1500M long ( similar to the 5th Avenue in New York) the focal point of the Business District is fully completed from Ahmadu Bello Way in Victoria Island to the Ocean Front, where an exquisite waterfront entertainment is being planned.
“We are extremely proud to have achieved another major milestone in the development of Eko Atlantic City. This futuristic city is not just for residential and commercial activities but a tourist attraction. We strongly believe the new boulevard will enhance business activities and be the ideal location for company headquarters, luxury and business hotels and also residential elements as well as attracting tourists from all over Africa,” says Ronald Chagoury Jr.
In addition, the city infrastructure network makes it the most technically advanced city inNigeria. It comes with a fully integrated autonomous and reliable infrastructure networks with all its underground service pipes installed under the extensive paved sidewalks( such as the storm-water drains, sewer drains, water supply piping, power cables and IT network ).
In 2006 South Energyx Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of The Chagoury Group was awarded the concession to reclaim land, develop infrastructure and act as the exclusive authority over the development of Eko Atlantic city, next to Victoria Island in Lagos. Furthermore, South Energyx Nigeria Limited was specifically created to oversee the planning and development of Eko Atlantic, the new city of Lagos.

Self-sufficient and sustainable, it includes state-of-the-art urban design, its own power, clean water, advanced telecommunications, spacious roads and 110,000 trees.
The project is privately funded by South Energyx Nigeria Limited – the developers and city planners, a subsidiary of the Nigeria-based Chagoury Group of companies – working in strategic partnership with the Lagos State Government and supported by the Nigerian federal government.
SOUFRIERE, St. Lucia, July 15, 2016 – Two of Soufrière, St. Lucia’s top resorts have been included among the Top 25 Caribbean resorts by one of the world’s leading travel magazines.
Travel + Leisure’s (T+L) World’s Best Awards reader survey results, which reveal the hotels that deliver the most extraordinary experiences, list Jade Mountain in third position in the Caribbean while its eco-chic sister property, Anse Chastanet, came in at number 13 in the rankings.
Karolin Troubetzkoy, Executive Director of Marketing and Operations at both properties, which lie next to each other overlooking the iconic twin peaks of the Pitons, was delighted the neighboring resorts were included in the prestigious ranking.
“We are very happy that Jade Mountain has retained its position as the best resort in St. Lucia, as well as being ranked third among the Top 25 Caribbean Resorts,” said Troubetzkoy.
Equally impressive, Jade Mountain is included on the list of The 100 Best Hotels in the World, coming in at number 90 and holding company with some of the world’s most exclusive properties.
For Troubetzkoy, the recognition is a particularly gratifying achievement as the judging becomes more competitive each year. “On an experiential level, everyone is reaching above and beyond to impress and serve guests,” said Troubetzkoy, who congratulated Kamalame Cay in The Bahamas and Curtain Bluff in Antigua for capturing the top two Caribbean positions, respectively.
The increasing competition, according to Troubetzkoy, who is also president of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, is something to which the region’s hospitality industry must pay attention: “We need to see many more Caribbean properties included on these lists of the world’s most outstanding hotels and resorts,” she added.
For T+L’s annual poll, the magazine asked respondents to vote for the hotels, destinations and other travel companies that define the very best in travel.
The survey results represent one of the most widely recognized and respected rankings in the travel and tourism industry worldwide.

US VIRGIN ISLANDS, May 18, 2016 – Delta Air Lines will inaugurate a daily service from Atlanta to St. Croix for three weeks over the peak Christmas holiday season, reports the United States Virgin Islands Department of Tourism.
Commissioner of Tourism Beverly Nicholson-Doty announced that the Atlanta-based carrier will augment its twice weekly winter service from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to Henry E. Rohlsen Airport with daily flights from December 17, 2016 through January 7, 2017.
“These new flights demonstrate the strong performance of the existing service as well as Delta’s commitment to the island of St. Croix,” said Nicholson-Doty, who welcomed the additional seats over the busy travel season.
U.S. Virgin Islands Governor Kenneth Mapp , who led a government contingent to Delta’s Atlanta headquarters last summer, said securing additional seats to St. Croix remains a key priority for his administration and this development complements efforts to bring a four-star hotel to St. Croix, attracting other investments, and pursuing oil and gas as well as manufacturing opportunities.
The Commissioner asserted that the tourism department is strengthening its resolve to increase airlift from the U.S. mainland to the Territory. “We meet regularly with the airlines and are working steadfastly to introduce more flights to St. Croix, while welcoming new United Airlines flights from Houston to St. Thomas as early as Saturday, May 28,” Commissioner Nicholson-Doty said.
The United flights will operate from George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston four days a week from early June through mid-August, and the airline will operate daily flights from Washington Dulles International Airport to St. Thomas this summer.
