Santa Fe, New Mexico, August 7, 2015 – Shiprock Santa Fe gallery is pleased to announce their annual Indian Market reception on Thursday, August 20th from 2-4 p.m. This year’s reception will celebrate Hopi fine jeweler Sonwai (Verma Nequatewa) and Sicangu Lakota contemporary artist Dyani WhiteHawk’s exhibitions at the gallery.
Apprentices from the Santa Fe Opera will perform arias during the reception from 2:30-3:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. “The apprentices are honored to sing at Shiprock Santa Fe,” said David Holloway Director of Apprentice Singers Program, Santa Fe Opera “and are truly looking forward to the event.”
Artist Dyani WhiteHawk received her M.F.A in Studio Arts from University of Wisconsin Madison and currently resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 2014 she was the recipient of a Joan Mitchell Foundation grant and is a consecutive ‘Best of Show’ winner at Santa Fe Indian Market. WhiteHawk will exhibit a new series of paintings at the gallery on view through September 30, 2015. On Friday, August 21 White Hawk will lecture at 11 a.m. in the gallery.
