HVS Expands its U.S. Southern Presence with new Asheville Office

HVS is pleased to announce the recent opening of a new office in Asheville, North Carolina, thus expanding its coverage to over 25 cities in the United States.

HVS ConsultingAsheville, NC. – Nov. 10, 2015 – HVS is pleased to announce the recent opening of a new office in Asheville, North Carolina, thus expanding its coverage to over 25 cities in the United States. Though based in Asheville, members of this office will focus on assets throughout the Southeast region.

The metropolitan Asheville market has shown excellent year-to-date growth in tourism, with lodging revenue, occupancy, ADR, demand, airport passengers, and group tour bookings increasing significantly. Currently, Asheville offers 62 hotels containing 6,378 rooms. There are several new properties under construction including a Wingate, a Cambria Suites, a Hilton Garden Inn, an AC Hotel by Marriott, and a Hyatt Place, as well as The Village Hotel on The Biltmore Estate. A Courtyard by Marriott also recently opened at the airport. Additionally, there are several other hotels being planned for development in the next few years.

In addition to the Asheville market, this office covers the nearby Charlotte market, which includes 160 hotels and over 21,000 rooms in Charlotte-proper. The 170-unit Embassy Suites by Hilton Charlotte Ayrsley is the newest hotel, having opened in June 2015. An Embassy Suites by Hilton and a SpringHill Suites by Marriott are both under construction in Uptown. If all hotels under construction and proposed for Uptown and the surrounding neighborhoods come to fruition, there will be 1,900 new rooms, equating to an increase in room supply of 42%. The Marriott City Center is also undergoing a major renovation, scheduled for completion in the spring of 2016. Other neighborhoods anticipating hotel growth are Ballantyne and SouthPark.

HVS Asheville will be headed by Janet Snyder, Senior Vice President of Consulting and Valuation, who has made this her home base for several years. Janet’s diverse hospitality consulting career encompasses assignments for both existing and proposed hotels, including feasibility studies for oceanfront properties, market studies, and research analysis for tourist-attraction hotels, as well as the appraisal of numerous upscale boutique properties. Snyder has specialized in markets throughout the Carolinas, the South, and the Mid-Atlantic. She has written articles on Charlotte and InterContinental Hotels Group, as well as authored the first In Focus: Hotel Market Report – Asheville, NC..

Prior to joining HVS, Janet worked for Hilton Worldwide, partnering with Hilton Direct’s national sales office in Washington, D.C. and serving as Sales Manager at the Hilton Dallas Lincoln Center. Janet earned a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, with a minor in Religion, from Baylor University.
