Marco Polo Hotels Celebrates Its Namesake’s Birthday

Cebu City, Phil., Sept. 17, 2015 – Marco Polo Hotels celebrated the birth of its namesake – Marco Polo the Italian explorer – at its Client Appreciation Cocktail Party on Tuesday night. Over 100 clients, media and partners attended the event which was held at Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel.

It was Marco Polo the Italian explorer’s 761st birthday; in true celebratory fashion, there as a birthday cake honouring the famous merchant who travelled almost 24,000 kilometres over land and sea from his hometown of Venice, Italy to China to create the Silk Route.
The guests were entertained by an eclectic mix of festive Italian and Asian music, Venetian and Chinese opera, a delicious selection of Italian and Asian dishes, and games and activities to be enjoyed by all. Even Marco Polo himself graced the event, finding time to pose for photos with the guests as well as singing some Italian opera songs, much to the delight of the guests.

Sales representatives from each of the 14 Marco Polo hotels were also in attendance, answering guests’ questions and informing them of the latest developments and events happening at their respective properties.

Jennifer Cronin, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the group kicked off the event by showing the new brand story video of the group’s luxury brand, Niccolo by Marco Polo: “The past year has been one of the most exciting years for Marco Polo Hotels, with Marco Polo openings in Manila and Changzhou as well as the launch of our new luxury brand, Niccolo and our first property in Chengdu. The success of these developments is a reflection of our supportive partnerships, so celebrating this collaborative spirit on Marco Polo’s birthday was a perfect way to establish a new tradition for the future.”
