It’s a “three-peat”: Another award on display at the front desk of Days Inn Chicago

Days Inn ChicagoChicago, IL, October 2, 2013 -Thinking of breezing through the Windy City? It’s a great time of year to visit and linger a while, says Stefanie Hrejsa, General Manager at the multi-award winning Days Inn Chicago, which has just scored another big win at the 2013 Wyndham Hotel Group Global Conference in Las Vegas. Chicago always offers a good time, but right now the summer heat is finally dissipating, and winter’s icy blasts haven’t yet overtaken the area. And the calendar is jam-packed with fall festivals, parades, and events for the whole family, in addition to Chicago’s year-round lineup of cultural attractions, sporting events, and superb restaurants.

Days Inn Chicago offers visitors a way to make the most of their Chicago stay without breaking the bank, explains Ms. Hrejsa. It is reasonably priced, convenient to all of the city’s major attractions, has been frequently recognized by the industry (with high scores in cleanliness, facilities, and general appeal), and – perhaps most important – has consistently earned rave reviews from guests.

At the above-mentioned Vegas conference, the hotel was honored with the 2012 Days Inn Property of the Year Award for properties with more than 126 rooms. “Our hotel has outperformed all sites in the large property category in terms of quality scores, positive guest reviews and RevPAR Index,” says Ms. Hrejsa, who accepted the award on behalf of the Days Inn Chicago.

The RevPAR, or revenue per available room, is a performance metric in the hotel industry, calculated as occupancy times average daily rate. Successful RevPAR varies from market to market, based upon demand and other factors.

A long-time franchisee that has consistently received high marks for quality and service, Days Inn Chicago has now won Property of the Year in its category three times: in 2004, 2009, and 2012. In addition, Smith Travel Research recognized the property as the best performing hotel in the Economy Scale, and it holds a 2013 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor. The hotel also scored high in QA, or quality assurance, achieving perfect scores through unannounced Days Inn quality inspections that rate cleanliness and maintenance in all property facilities, as well as brand compliance.

Winning this latest award was no small achievement. There are more than 1,700 Days Inn properties worldwide, and although these were divided into three groups by size of facility, there was still quite a bit of competition within each category. Most properties in the larger hotel category are also city and airport properties – not just small roadside motels. “For Days Inn Chicago to have come in first in its category three times shows that we are doing something right,” says Ms. Hrejsa.

Many people might think of Days Inn as a chain of serviceable but somewhat nondescript properties, but the Days Inn Chicago is something more. Not “just” a typical Days Inn, it is much more akin to a boutique hotel, with a distinctive European flair.

Located just two miles north of downtown Chicago in the Lincoln Park/Lake View neighborhood, the hotel is near Lincoln Park Zoo, and puts guests within walking distance of premiere attractions, including Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. It is also minutes away from the Chicago Loop, Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, and McCormick Place.

Days Inn Chicago caters to a very diverse clientele, including families, business travelers, contractors working in the area – and, of course, baseball fans. “We also get hospital patients and their families, and because we are only a mile from DePaul University, we host a lot of DePaul students and their families too,” says Ms. Hrejsa. “And because of our proximity to so many performance venues, we have had the pleasure of hosting many artists and bands.” In fact, Days Inn Chicago has been called Rock and Roll Days Inn because it has been a home away from home for some of the biggest names in music. A partial list of the most famous guests includes Alanis Morissette, Dave Mathews Band, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Sheryl Crow, Nelly Furtado, Greg Allman, and Ben Harper.

“We have local visitors as well as domestic and international guests from Europe, Asia, and South America,” adds Ms. Hrejsa. “We truly do cater to people from all walks of life.”

Amenities at Days Inn Chicago include free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, complimentary Deluxe Continental breakfast and free “USA Today” each morning, convenient valet parking, an on-site health club (and free access to the LA Fitness right next door). The health-conscious will be delighted to know that Days Inn Chicago is a 100 % non smoking facility.

Though the hotel has received accolades from the industry, a glance at the guest reviews on http://www.daysinnchicago.net indicates that its efforts are paying off where they really count – with the people who have stayed at Days Inn Chicago, would do so again, and would recommend it to their friends. One recent guest wrote, “Being a native of Chicago, and having traveled the world as a former flight attendant, I have stayed and recommended the Days Inn Chicago many times over to my co-workers; they all shared my enthusiasm about the hotel. The location is great and the employees are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast in a beautiful setting…all for a very affordable price. I will continue to recommend the Days Inn Chicago, and I will stay there myself whenever needed.”

An international guest writing on the TripAdvisor site gave the Days Inn Chicago an “excellent” rating, noting, “We decided to stay at the Days Inn, as a result of the good ratings it received on TripAdvisor, even though it was a little bit north of the Loop and downtown areas. We were not at all disappointed, and it proved to be one of the best hotels we stayed at during our two-week trip to the States. The hotel was well laid out, clean and neat, and served a great continental breakfast. It was very good value for money and turned out to only be a short CTA train ride to the touristy areas. It is situated in a very nice neighborhood and is surrounded by supermarkets and restaurants. I would also like to mention that the best part of our stay at Days Inn was probably the super efficient, friendly and utterly helpful hotel staff at reception.”

Notes Ms. Hrejsa, “Everybody at the property works so hard every day to provide exceptional service, as well as clean and well-maintained rooms. We are extremely proud of everybody for working together to accomplish these goals, and even prouder to be recognized for our efforts.”
