Aug, 10, 2013 – Costa Cruises has announced that due to continuing political instability and safety concerns, all calls in Egyptian ports will be cancelled. The cancellations extend through the remainder of the 2013/14 fall and winter cruise season.
Costa has made accommodations for guests on affected sailings, substituting the Egyptian ports for an extra port, an extended stay in a port, or an additional day at sea.
According to a statement from Costa, calls in Egypt may resume eventually: “Costa Crociere will restore calls to Egyptian ports as soon as the social and political environment stabilizes and the cruise line can ensure the safety and security of its guests.”
Costa now follows behind other major cruise lines such as MSC, Princess, Seabourn, and Holland America Line, who have also recently cancelled all calls to Egypt for the remainder of the year.
